LOVE the very early hours. Usually awake around 2.00~3.00, alert and
energetic. Get on the computer, play with the monkeys (also light
sleepers), meditate on Aurobindo, Chinmoy, Hazrat Inayat Khan, read my
novel. When I feel pitiless I'll wake up one of the boys to make me a cafe
latte - of course during Ramadhan, the Muslim holy fasting month, it's me
who has to roust the Mooses so they won't have to go without their
breakfast (at least during the first week, before they get accustomed to
the early hours).

The purity, focus and energy of those quiet hours is very special to me,
particularly in the tropics where it's not so chilly at night. And having
the Web to warm up by is part of the comfort.

(Of course it means that I spend many mid-day hours sacked out, like the
Count in his coffin, ha).
