I'm sure that DeLay's departure was all about money. He is following the money. Public servant work just wasn't going to cut it anymore. BTW, did anyone catch the great Studs Terkel last night on Daily Show? Studs said DeLay made the best career decision he has ever made.
I doubt that the Republicans will let District 22 go to Nick Lampson, a basic liberal who was gerrymandered out of office, and who had leveled a significant campaign against DeLay. Every high profile republican in the area has expressed interest in the seat. Perry will play a big role in choosing the successor or best election strategy to keep the seat in the hands of the Republicans. Remember also that it was redrawn to elect Republicans.
Meanwhile, at the Enron trial, the money mongers start their defense and Skilling takes the stand late today or Thursday.

Well, I would still have preferred seeing Tom DeLay hanging upside down from a light pole, but I guess this will have to do.
Can his seat be won be a Democrat? Oh, please, help that to happen!!
