Pffaahh.

All this "photography" business is around because these so-called "artists" never had enough talent to actually "draw" anything nor enough imagination to paint anything but their back porch. A poor excuse for aesthetic pretension. Never been any photographer who was a Real Artist. Last people to do anything remotely interesting were Eadweard Muybridge at Stanford University and Harold Edgerton at MIT. All else is simple magazine graphics and media hoopla in which all the truly creative work was done by former Bauhaus teachers in the late Thirties.

Capturing on film or digital images a bunch of tree huggers or dead foxes or greasy peasants can be done by anybody with too much money which permits them to travel and a disposable camera. Most of them probably don't even develop their own film and if they shoot thousands of images they might stumble upon an interesting design or two entirely by accident. Probably has to be pointed out to them by their travel agent.

Naturally, all this "naturalism" is sucked-up by the American public as Capital A "Art" but then the American public also elected George W. Bush President....twice. Clear that a nation of SUV driving, Big Mac eating, beer swilling, uneducatable couch potatoes has about as much "visual sensitivity" as a can of baked beans. Or Laura Bush, which ever comes first.

One might as well settle back for an evening with Ed Wood and be done with it.

Yours in venom,

Waldo C. Lydecker II
