Subject: [AGL] RIP Johnny Moyer

Johnny Moyer has died. He was an old friend from way back. I first met
him in the summer of '62. I mourn his passing.

> John R. Moyer John R. Moyer, age 64, died after a terminal illness on
> Sept. 29, 2005, at his residence in Beaumont, Texas. He was born in
> Beaumont and lived most of his life in Austin, Texas. His parents
> preceded him in death, as well as his sister and second wife. He is
> survived by three sons, a daughter-in-law and two grandchildren. John
> graduated from The University of Texas with a Master's degree in
> Musicology, but his lifetime work was as in carpentry. Music was always
> a big part of his life. He played acoustic bass with Janis Joplin, the
> Winter brothers and Kenneth Threadgill. He was a regular performer at
> many Austin nightclubs. His later years were spent in Beaumont where he
> cared for his mother until her death. Then he began an internet
> business for wooden hand-crafted items which he made in a backyard
> workshop. In compliance with John's wishes, his remains will be
> cremated and the ashes scattered in Austin.
