Reporting in: The AAS, true to form, underestimated the attendence and bent over backwards to provide "balanced coverage" by allowing turncoat Alan Saeger, (the liberal UT govt. prof who turned conservative about the time he started SuperCuts,) to spout the "opposing viewpoint"--the administration line as to how this kind of thing brings comfort to the enemy. This tired argument, a carryover from the critics who excoriated Jane Fonda, required no effort at all comparable to the tremendous energy of all those who turned out for this heartfelt demonstration against the war. On just TWO DAYS notice seven-hundred people registered their RSVPs and attended--the turn out looked to me to be closer to 1,000.

Some of those there who I recognized were:
Janet Gilles
Karen Kuykendahl
Ramsey and Sandy
Jim and Barbara Simon
Bruce Wallenski
Molly Ivins
Liz Carpenter
Fontain and Walt
Alice Embry
Bruce Kirkland
David Smith
A half dozen others with whom I exchanged smiles and greetings, but whose names escaped me were also in attendence and I know I certainly didn't see everyone there.
