Thank you so much for this. Winn was a good friend and a lover, Henry
Holly was a good friend to me. I still remember when Henry came and
told me what happened. I often visited Winn's mother and the baby - they
were happy together.

Subject: Winn Pratt according to John Clay, a ballad

He was flyin' down the road
Just as fast as he could go,
Winn Pratt was havin' his last ride.
He flew seven hundred feet
>From the cliff above Bull Creek,
And he almost reached the other side.

Henry Holly was a big guy
The Chuck Wagon well knew.
He just happened to be nearby huntin' deer.
Though he'd come with another guy
In the other guy's car
He'd brought along his skin divin' gear.

Henry Holly was all ready
When th' highway patrol got there
All suited up and his tanks full of air
Went lookin' for Winn's body,
Didn't have to look too far
He found Winn Pratt just underneath the car.

Now Winn Pratt woulda laughed
If he coulda seen his funeral,
Cause th' preacher tried to make like Winn was saved.
It was just about an hour
>From the time we viewed his body
Till they started lowerin' him in the grave.

Winn Pratt was an only child
His parents had no other.
Winn Pratt had a wife, she didn't want to be a mother.
Put their baby up for adoption
But gave her to his folks instead.
Winn Pratt was only eighteen years old when he was
dead.
