Fiery Death at Treaty Oak

Charlie,

This is a fascinating trip -- going to the Web site
that is, not actually going to Bustamente in Mexico.

I recommend clicking on
http://home.austin.rr.com/ojknox/Going%20to%20Bustamante.pdf to read up on
what you will need
to cross into Mexico. Lotsa paperwork and a low limit
credit card will be required.

I myself have been to Laredo once with one of our
subscribers. We crossed over into Nuevo Laredo
and walked about a bit in the sunlight. I saw a large
gentleman in civilian clothing wearing a pistol. Never
saw that before. This would have been in 1964

I do love stories about going to Mexico though.
There was an absolutely great short story in the
Austin Chronicle once about being a dope smoking
hippie in Mexico and what you could and could not
do vis-a-vis smoking/holding dope

And personal stories from some of our local heroes.
Sandy Lockett for example who did tricky radio
communications capers there with back country
banditos on horseback. Not to speak of Hiram
"Doug" Breeding (nomen non omen) and many
others

Mike
