Karen,
Every time I send you an email off list it bounces. Any idea why this could be happenin'? I gave up and quit trying some time ago.

Subject: ATTN: Karen -- all about part of Hector Lujan's Saturday afternoon

I was walking home yesterday minding my own
bidness when I saw the back of a man in shirt
and tie and jacket who looked like Hector Lujan.

Hector is always a treat: you will remember him
from Dave Moriaty's last known party, he's the
one who sat on the cooler on the deck and it
broke. He also read the svelte little girl's
palm explaining to her that she had body wisdom
quite unknown to him. Right! She was fascinated
probably never having heard that particular line
before. That Hector. Hector also has a 23' Ranger
sailboat at the Austin Yacht Club which engages
a large part of his ideation. I originally met
Hector through the UT Sail Club 20+ years ago.

Anyhoo, it WAS Hector and he was staring up
Lavaca St to watch for the #12 bus while a
man he had found at the busstop tried to
open the door of his older Suburban which
he, Hector, had locked his keys in with a
wire coathanger that Hector had procured
from somewhere.

I went and got the project some more tools,
a selection of wire hangers, a longnosed
pliers, a disreputable screwdriver and the
blade from a hacksaw which is what a jimmy
is.

Various folks were roped into the dooropening
project until finally a gent came along who
knew how to work the jimmy and opened the
door. I was able to keep a handsome redhaired
fellow from walking away with the longnosed
plier. The guy who knew how to jimmy had,
surprisingly, or perhaps not that surprisingly,
a stainless steel folding all purpose gizmo
which coulda got him a year or so in jail if
he had a record.

I turned down Hector's kind offer to take me
sailing although I dearly wanted to go sailing.
However for my next circumnavigation I do NOT
plan to take Hector. Too much incident in
this talented man's waking hours for me. And
drink! I was impressed 20 years ago when after
taking him sailing in my sailboat, he parked
across the street from our little old rent
house on W.9th because he still had a full
six-pack that needed drinking. What a guy!

Mike
