Carolyn and Connie,
Snatching the election away from Gore was the first example of going too far. There are no lengths too far for this pack of thugs. I think that the fact that no Democrat is on top now is a good sign. That means that the nation will at least pay attention as the race unfolds. I like Kerry, and Edwards, and could work for Dean, even though ideologically I favored Kucinich. It will be an interesting election year and that is the best we could hope for. Never underestimate the power of a sitting president to manipulate events to his favor, but that bright spot over the horizon, that peep of light, is Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton.
Since I am acting co-ordinator for the HRCSN, her Support Network in Austin, which is still simply a fan club, I am signing people up for the five year membership at $10 in keeping hope alive for 2008 if Bush walks away with the election once more.

it is still so early in the contest, so much can develop in the next few months. A lot of the candidates are going to go up and down a lot. If we have one candidate now there is so much time for a lot of dirty tricks. I think at Dean's speech he gave in New Hampshire where there were those two bizarre hecklers that might be the start of 'dirty tricks' you know trying to get him to loose it and start screaming again. dean seems to have stopped the disaster for now. (on the radio they are referring to his Iowa speech as "i have a scream speech") I was thinking today that John Kerry has a sort of Edward Muskie/m Dukakis aura. I hope the Demos are really prepared for a lot dirty and unfair happenings far worse than the voting fiasco in Florida. Bush and company are determined to win at any cost. I expect a lot of national alerts leading to suspension of election..no that would be going too far.

Famous disaster for a campaign, just like Nixon mopping sweat on live TV, and Dukakis' head inappropriately poking out of a military tank, or Trudeau annointed Gore as Prince Albert blah, blah. It all becomes very influential, and completely obscures the candidates' focus, qualifications and political sincerity. The press makes a big deal out of something like what Dean did, which is unfortunate because I thought that Dean was just doing what he should do to rally his hard-working troops. 'So what', I say, if he screams. But it's all over for him. Who's next? Will one day on TV, Kerry' appearance be little too pale like a 'death specter'? People like Letterman, Leno and Jon Stewart are good at picking up on something like that, and sometimes it really sticks in the public's minds, allowing them to quit listening to anything the candidate has to say. 'muricans' are
ninnies for the most part, looking for a simple 'handle', so they don't have to think too long. Just my 2 cents on this. I hate to say this, but I think we should be prepared with some sort of strategy to take back the country if we don't regain the presidency this year.
