Margaret,
The situation is even worse than it appears. At the Capitol Area Democratic Women's group last week I heard from Ann McAfee, a highly respected local politiacl leader, that the authorities from the county and other jurisdictions that have bought voting machines may not BY LAW criticize or question the machines protocols in any way, or demand print out versions! Isn't this a far stretch from "the customer is always right?" I am shocked by it. The machine voting with the strong potential for hacking, the dark of night votes in the Senate and House in DC dismantling Medicare, the redistricting crusade, and the packing of judicial assignments reflects the maniacal grip the administration has on America and how doggedly determined they are to stay in power, by any means available. I have never seen anything like it.

Subject: FW: Wondering about the strange Iowa upsets?
Don't you just love how the major media is shilling for the "democratic process?"
You see, they say with great pride, the great Democratic system LIVES, in Iowa, and NH, and in this great country of ours.
These primaries are PROOF of how perfectly our form of government is Of BY and FOR The People. This is what democracy should be, they say.
People like you and me, just re'glar folkses, making sure their voices are heard.
What they don't tell you is that laws are being passed, judges are being installed, our government is being taken over---
in the dead of night, when everyone is away, when no one is looking. (Who's watching the watchers?)
That you can really no kidding TRUST the system, because you get to VOTE.
This is the most cynical campaign of all.
Inveigling us into believing that we get a VOTE. and that our votes will be counted.
And then they will announce: You see, we won this election fair and square.
---------------------------------
Wondering about the Iowa "upsets"?
Well, let's check the ballots.
Oh, wait; there aren't any....
Well, let's check the machines.
Oh, wait; we're not allowed to....
All but two counties in the Iowa Caucuses used DRE e-vote technology.
And we'll never be able to verify the results.

Quote of The Day:
"...Our electoral process is broken, with about half or more of America's
eligible voters not voting in every federal election cycle. After the
Florida recount debacle, in which the likes of Fidel Castro and Robert
Mugabe lectured us on how to conduct democratic elections, we still do
not have a single, standardized system of voting throughout the nation.
The campaign process has become so expensive that it limits the talent
pool available today to only millionaires or those willing and able to
raise substantial sums of cash from wealthy and powerful interests with
business before the government. Forty members of the current U.S. Senate
are millionaires; less than one percent of the American people are
millionaires. And big money mixed with irregular and high-tech
redistricting help explain why the incumbent reelection rate in the
House of Representatives the past three elections has been more than 98
percent. These are the kind of numbers we expect to see in countries
like North Korea or China, not the United States..."
