It may be pessimist but it is also nonsense. 

As many many elections have made all the difference
(e.g. in the US Roosevelt over Hoover, Reagan over Carter,
Johnson over Goldwater, indeed Bush over Gore), the 
hypothetical is in willful disregard of common sense and 
historical knowledge.

Jim, I think you just like to type crazy-like at your
keyboard.
