Dr. Mike--- I am discomforted with the present world situation, and I'm no Manichean. I see in the present situation over Iraq enormous peril-- we have a president who raves on and on about how Saddam is as dangerous as Hitler and the evil Soviet Union combined, who desires earnestly to obliterate the man, who had to be dragged kicking and screaming (by Powell and Blair and most of the rest of the "free world" ) to go for the UN sanctions, who is bombing Iraq on a daily basis, who is fixated on terrorism in a war he is losing, who sees Saddam as an easier target, whose brain is so riddled with holes (likely from years of drug and alcohol abuse) that he can't utter more than a couple of unscripted sentences without making a booboo, who doesn't even realize that blacks live in Brazil. Is Bush sane? I think it is questionable, and I judge by his public performance . If you have any facts, Dr. Mike, please share them with us. But don't shovel any more of your guff about world history. World history tells us that stupid and unbalanced leaders, particularly those with near-dictatorial powers , often get their countries into wars. Of course, there are other factors at play in each case, multiple causation to be sure, but ask yourself: Whose finger is on the button? Do you trust that finger? End of story.
