Salut Mike,

At last, a real argument. And this is an obvious objection =

which would occur to many people. It is important to answer it.
There is no contradiction, as you seem to think, between the =

secret services and the military earnestly trying to get bin Laden =

_at one time, and under one administration_, and their deciding to =

lay off him --- temporarily --- later on. The motivation, at least =

(if not the responsibilities of the shadowy decision-making, which =

we'll probably never know), is quite clear: by the summer of last =

year, it was obvious that Bush had little chance of being re-elected, =

with a recession looming and especially with what many people =

regarded as an illegitimate election in the first place. But this =

could all be turned around if a spectacular terrorist act --- which =

the CIA knew the fanatics were already planning --- were to take =

place, traumatizing the American people, unifying them against a =

common enemy, and rallying them around the flag and the President. =

Bush himself wouldn't have to know. In fact, I doubt that he did =

know. His outrage and grief seemed sincere. Anyway, he's nothing but =

a figurehead like Reagan, a puppet of the oil industry and other =

megacorporate interests. He needn't be consulted on important =

decisions like this. In fact, he wasn't even told for a hell of a =

long time after the attacks had begun! In order to pull this off, all =

the CIA, FBI, and military intelligence authorities had to do was =

what they did: nothing.
And I hope it is clear from Ruppert's evidence that the =

colorful Dubai caper is not really an essential part of the argument. =

I happen to think it could be true. But even if it turned out to be =

erroneous, the other evidence is overwhelming. And in any case, the =

blackout of the US press regarding this, and other such evidence, is =

anything but innocent oversight or honest editorial discrimination.
