when I first saw a photo of Bishop, his features seemed to me to
be Arabic. subsequently I read that Bishop used to tell his 
fellow students that his father was an Arab. this might be 
true or he might have fabulized about this because of his
appearance. we may or we may not ever get to the bottom of this.
