Chomsky in a spoken address given at a
conference circuit explained that the
1954 Guatemala intervention was sold to
the American people using Madison Ave
techniques. To entertain the audience he
brought up alter cocker Bernays as the
paradigm of amoral Madison Ave.
advertisers selling something. Bernays
orchestrated the Chesterfield campaign
to make cigarette smoking by women
acceptable in the 1920s.
Bernays as Mary Ann Wilson reports was
active on the conference circuit in the
mid 1980s. To read this talk on a Web
page and infer that Bernays was billing
the CIA $1000 a day in 1954 in aid of
selling the Guatemala intervention to
the American people is to read it WRONG.
Chomsky is not making such an inference.

You sent a 27k letter to austin-ghetto-list
about this -- that is ONE long letter,
easily beating out Roger in his earlier days.
your presence on our list is not to be utilized for
ranting because you are not ONE OF US. this
is clearly spelled out in Rule 22.
Roger up to now our chief ranter, who IS
one of us, has learnt to paste in URLs
when he wants to make a point. Please do
the same.
ONE OF US by the way refers to people who
knew one another in Ghetto Daze
