Scoundrels, manipulators, and religious propaganda

Jim-- seems like I heard about the gold under the WTC on TV some time ago,
and also the fact that there had been looting of some of the shops buried
under the rubble (maybe from the heroic searchers, maybe from underground
trolls coming up from the subways). At any rate, that was something given as
an excuse for searching people. But you're right that this story hasn't
gotten much play, and the reason is as you state-- the "pro-Patriot" mass
media don't want to mar the myth of great American heroes (as in fact
almost all of the WTC searchers are, but I'm not shocked that a few
sleaze-balls are out there among them).
