I only remember hearing Gilbert play piano one time. There was a party at
Connie and Pat's house on Bellevue next to Eastwoods park. The piano was
kind of rustic and not in perfect tune, but Gilbert played the heck out of
it--jazz, ragtime, bebop type stuff. We all did a singalong with Gilbert
accompanying, and I remember sitting on the piano bench next to Gilbert
singing as loud as I could. Anyone who has ever heard me sing probably
wishes they hadn't. I'm no musician, but something about that party and
the music and lots of keg beer inspired me to pretend I could sing. That
was one heck of a party!
