Well, war does seem to accomplish something. Beginning around the late 19th
century the war casualties shifted from around 95% military to 95% civilian.
Some people interpret that as women and children, but we all know that for
the last 10 years in Iraq it's been mainly children 6 and under. Of course,
there is no war going on in Iraq. The children's deaths are related to
destroyed infrastructure, polluted water, economic blockade, and nearly
weekly bombing. So even non-war does accomplish something. I guess it
depends on how you value that accomplishment.
D.
P.S. I disagree with the idea that war is idiocy. On the contrary, it is a
splendid demonstration of aggression, brutality, and delusional ideation.
You know, stuff like "God is on our side," or "We're the good guys 'cause
we're providing humanitarian aid."
Typically it's the defenseless who are targets. Generally the men
delusionally hate and brutalize, and the women, uhh, what do they do?
