Armadillo Origin Trivia Q

The vaguely irascable Glenn Whitehead continues to paint fabulous work from
his New York loft located in Smithville, TX. His very talented and still
gorgeous ex-wife, Wanda Gamble, teaches and paints out of the same studio.
They are still great pals. I truly envy such a relationship. They both live
in Smithville where Wanda just bought a house.
Glen was the art director for the Ranger who first came up with the
Armadillo theme. Bob Burns was editor of the Ranger around that time and
the mag contiuned to use the theme. It was later picked up by Franklin who
worked it like a signature for a whole local Mindset. Eddie Wilson, being no
fool, whatever else he might be, adopted what he saw as an opportunity for
his logo when the Vulcan Gas Company begain to falter. Or at least that is
what I think is the story.
Glen and Wanda are both very accomplished artists, and anyone should be
proud to own a painting by either.
The other facts in this string are correct. Glen doesn't use e-mail, and
Wanda is 'too busy' for this list.
I wish they were on the list.
