I've never seen this here before. The run-off
election between incumbent Lee Brown, mayor for 4
years, and Orlando Sanchez (1 term Council) has
squared off heavily partisan.
Me thinks the Republicans have got an agenda.
Sanchez is originally from Cuba, came here in the 60s
as a kid. He has no distinction in his work or
anything. Sat on the council and just gave Brown
trouble all the time. It is unconfirmable, but said
that he has support from the most right-wing of big
money here BUT, he NOW HAS the ENDORSEMENTS OF
George & Barbara Bush (TV ads)
George W. Bush (big newspaper ad)
Mayor Giulani (TV) for goodness sake
Elaine Chao, Labor Sec.
What's the deal?
To counter, Lee Brown got Clinton's endorsement, and
he has the endorsement of most of the other Council
members, and of course the cops.
Polls call it a tie right now. Election tomorrow, and
I can't vote in City of Houston, just stand by and
watch.
