Since we obviously cannot get the truth about this 'war-against-evil'

Anarchy in warlord territory

Armed gangs looting cars and buses

Rory McCarthy in Kabul
Friday November 23, 2001

Armed warlords operating in the hills of eastern Afghanistan have begun
ambushing and looting
cars and buses as large areas of the country slide back into anarchy..."

carpets, are rapidly

Alliance partners yesterday
that the post-Taliban government in Kabul is unlikely to accept the need
for British or other foreign
troops on Afghan soil once the immediate military crisis ends.

night, Mr Straw was forced to accept
that none of the 6,000 British troops presently on 48-hour standby may
ever be sent to Afghanistan...

Defence officials said plans to deploy larger numbers of British troops
had been abandoned because
of opposition from the Northern Alliance and the low priority given by
US military commanders to
the distribution of aid..."
