Ah, crap. I hope I haven't dumped several misbegotten mail attempts
onto this list. Have been trying to "reply" for the first time on this
list, and kept trying to clear out all but the relevant backquote stuff,
and then it keeps zappping off into space or sumet.
And all I wanted to do was just follow up re White: Absolutely
terrific! Once I got started I went thru all his stuff, and then found
the "men's adventure" series he wrote earlier, under pseudonyms, and am
tracking down and reading them. Also great. IMO, he truly is the
successor to John D. Also imo, his best work so far is "The Man Who
Invented Florida." Was kinda neat to hear him say at a recent reading
that it was his favorite, too, but hasn't done well w/ the "general
public" so it should be right up the ghetto alley.
Also, he's got a pretty good web site: www.rwwhite.com
which is slightly hard to navigate (yeah, like *I'd* know?!), but has a
bunch of his articles, a chat board, etc. And he actually answers his
fans!
Which reminds me of one time a bunch of us were discussing Vonnegut
and thought it would be cool to call him up, so we checked information
and he was listed! So we chickened out. Who all was there? Tommy Hall
I think, but disremember who else.
Thanks for the offline e-mail guys, I'll get back soon. While I was
away from home, I think my mouse got into the wafarin; been acting real
sickly, need to make a run to Best Buy. bye. Margot
