All of us made choices back in the 60's and 70's to avoid the boring,
conformist, standard social context at the time. <<<

But, you know, I really don't remember making choices at all., although I
know others did - including those close to me. I just continued in the
general direction I was already headed, never did fit in the standard social
context anyway - and, even my parents avoided the boring and led
unconventional lives. I was fascinated by the musicians and the ghetto
characters, sometimes enamored with the style of individuals, and
infatuated with the idea of a community of clever, creative folks,
supporting each other - and, like Candida, I suppose I figured the world I
was in was "the best of all possible worlds" - worthy of further
exploration - running toward, not from - that was me, I thought.

And, then, with the 70s things got darker and all of that "me", EST,
individualistic stuff came along - we figured it was probably more
simpatico elsewhere - and, it was at that point that Monty and I left for
our seven year journey away from the US......

And now? Time for more journeys - whether in place or by
wandering......time for reflection? time for action?
