Well, James there are several things about this post that I find confusing.
First of all, you "claim" that you had a class in Latin in a Texas, nee Gulf
Coast high school. The Reconstruction Constitution specifically forbade the
teaching of "foreign tongues" which, at that time included: Greek, Mexican,
French, Cajun, Nauhatl, Cree, and Latin. (According to some, during the
Reconstruction Constitution Convention, outside of hanging Republicans in
effigy or for real, one of the major passtimes was an early form of jest
called Latin-o wherein one took any foreign word, added an "o" and shrugged
one's shoulders. From this, it is assumed, we now have the word Latino,
although this too has been challenged. ) Therefore, you couldn't have had
Latin until a Republican was elected Govenor. Please don't confuse us with
illusions of educational grandeur.
Secondly, the person you thought was Wali was really a spy from the planet
Noximos. Wali actually spent his youth in a mild saline soultion in Fort
Worth. He only appeared at UT after killing his doppleganger from Noximos.
This will come as a shock to many, but we are all of the Star Trek
generation and we can take this kind of pain.
Thirdly, we have never met, that I know of, but your last name has a good
old-Texas ring to it. On that basis, then, I conclude that you are
proabably ok. Please try not to ruffle too many feathers as many of us
moult this time of year.

Since the subject has come up and I'm one of the non-Ghetto residents as
well, I just wanted to say that I go back to the Jefferson County group too
(Wali sat right behind me in high school Latin). I know a few of the hard
core nucleus here very well, others casually, know still more only by name,
some not at all.
Just thought I'd clear up what was undoubtedly a burning question in many
minds.
Of course the list creates a lot of volume, but I'm not finding it a major
cyberhassle.
Best,
Jim H.
