It debunks the notion that there is the modern international
culture led by the USA versus the wayward backward elements
like Islam who will eventually see the light and support our
one-big-happy-family world empire.

For those who want to delve more deeply into the same topic, there is
no better and more prescient book, IMO,  than "False Dawn" by 
international
economist (and London School of Economics lecturer) John Gray.
