I assume that any effort by Congress to legally investigate any Bush-Enron
ties will be immediately wrapped in a shroud of "executive privilege" and a
mist of "patriotism".  What we have here is an attempt to build/rebuild an
"Imperial Presidency".

Good question, Bob! I guess there's a chance this will
sort of fade, fade away like the S & L scandal. Except
the S & L faded because both Dems and Repubs were
up to their eyeballs in it, and this seems more of a repub
dominated scheme. We do have a bit of talk about some
kind of broad investigation or series of same. Sen. Henry
Waxman has written a scathing letter to Cheney calling
for documentation and other evidence that Bush & Co.
have refused to make public. It is attached and worth
reading ... at a time when there is all too little scathing
from our craven "loyal opposition." ( See Telebob's post
on Lieberman.)
