**** Lion Frustrations? Don’t Forget TinkerTool <http://tidbits.com/article/12601?rss>
Matt Neuburg, TidBITS

TinkerTool is a brilliant one-window application that presents itself as a series of panes, rather like System Preferences, each pane providing checkboxes or other interface for throwing undocumented under-the-hood switches in your system and in some Apple-provided software, such as the Finder and Safari. It customizes itself automatically to the particular system and version you’re using, so the options you’ll see are always the right options. And, like TidBITS, it takes a conservative stance; its only options are those that have been determined to be safe and useful.

**** An Apple A Day... <http://www.macworld.com/article/163310/2011/10/an_apple_a_day_.html#lsrc.rss_main>
Michael Gartenberg, Macworld

It's easier to get in shape with your iPhone and iPod to help you out.

**** A Sister’s Eulogy For Steve Jobs <http://www.nytimes.com/2011/10/30/opinion/mona-simpsons-eulogy-for-steve-jobs.html?_r=2&pagewanted=all>
Mona Simpson, New York Times

But with that will, that work ethic, that strength, there was also sweet Steve’s capacity for wonderment, the artist’s belief in the ideal, the still more beautiful later.

**** Parliament's For "Serious Discussion, Not Just Criticism" <http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/singaporelocalnews/view/1162543/1/.html>
Joanne Chan, Channel NewsAsia

Mr Lee added that Parliament is not just a place to hold either the government or opposition to account. Instead both sides should participate in solving problems together, or Singapore would be worse off for it.

Mr Lee said that while the opposition had put a lot of effort into their parliamentary speeches, it remains to be seen if they will participate in helping to solve problems.

**** Sing Govt's Pledge For More Openness Requires Rewiring The System's Sensitivity To Feedback, Removal Of Vindictive Mindset For Views It Dislikes <http://kementah.blogspot.com/2011/10/sing-govts-pledge-for-more-openness.html>
David Boey, Senang Diri

It is one thing to call for better government-to-people communications. It is quite another dealing with the impression that the system harbours a grudge against people who actually make the effort to speak up. However grand the intention, the first point will not succeed if the impression that the system is small minded, hyper sensitive and vindictive lingers.
