**** Last Word On Lion And Application Compatibility <http://www.macworld.com/article/160783/2011/06/lion_app_last.html#lsrc.rss_main>
Christopher Breen, Macworld

At the risk of beating a dead chestnut, I’ve received several inquiries regarding applications and their likely (or assured) compatibility with Lion. Rather than chew up precious email bits and forum threads, let’s wrap up this “Will my applications run under Lion or not?” package with a colorful bow.

It supports multiple timers, clients, categories and has an amazing report feature. You can even consolidate multiple workers’ project times into one report. OfficeTime also integrates with iCal and Address Book.

Mac Mcclelland, Good Media

It was my research editor who told me it was completely nuts to willingly get fucked at gunpoint. That's what she called me when I told her the story. We were drunk and in a karaoke bar, so at the time I came up with only a wounded face and a whiny, "I'm not completely nuuuuts!" Upon further consideration, a more explanative response probably would have been something like: Well. You had to be there.

Christopher Breen, Macworld

Despite the missing features, I found Audition CS5.5 to be a solid tool largely because of its wealth of useful, good-sounding effects and its cleaning and tweaking tools. It’s now my go-to podcast production editor. If I routinely worked with Premiere Pro, I’d like it even more, as trips between the two applications are nearly seamless.

Unbiasedelectorate

It is of my opinion if Tan Cheng Bock and Tan Kian lian play their card right this election would be an exciting one. if they don’t, the post would go to Tony Tan. So its time for them to step up their gain and let the voters make their choice.

**** Philippines, Singapore Off US Trafficking Watchlist <http://www.google.com/hostednews/afp/article/ALeqM5h9BmTuatfiNj1O_OK7eTBeJBqEQQ?docId=CNG.1ab5d657468a2ee5f1590c010c34102a.5a1>
Shaun Tandon, AFP

The State Department's annual Trafficking in Persons Report has become increasingly sensitive for Southeast Asian governments, which face a cutoff of US assistance if they are found to be unresponsive in fighting trafficking.

The latest report elevated the Philippines, Singapore and Laos off the watchlist to so-called Tier 2, which means that the countries do not fully meet standards on human trafficking but are making efforts to do so.

But if the reserves are drawn and given to GLCs and statutory boards are now deemed not to be a draw of the reserves and if, such being the case, the president's consent is not needed, then how is he going to know how much is in the vault? Would he know how much he is supposed to have oversight of when the cabinet can transfer funds without it being considered a reserve draw-down?

In other words, what exactly is the president guarding?

**** Concealed Xenophobia <http://www.freakthoughts.net/?p=678>
Freak Thoughts

I was surprised to see that “racism” was involved in the article. I thought Singaporeans were merely coming together to condemn an outrageous act committed against another person. There was really no need to turn this into an “us against them” mentality. Unless the author is suggesting people would have behaved differently if this incident occurred between two Singaporeans.

**** Cheng Bock: I Won't Drop Presidential Bid <http://www.straitstimes.com/BreakingNews/Singapore/Story/STIStory_684824.html>
Teo Wan Gek & Cai Haoxiang, Straits Times

Former PAP MP Tan Cheng Bock has no plans to abandon his bid for presidency even if fellow presidential hopeful Tan Kin Lian contacts him about the possibility of one of them stepping aside.

'I'm not the kind of person who announces that I'm going to run, then after that decides not to. If I've made up my mind, nothing is going to change it,' he told The Straits Times yesterday.

**** Obedient Wives Club Should Be Legally Recognised <http://yawningbread.wordpress.com/2011/06/28/obedient-wives-club-should-be-legally-recognised/>
Au Waipang, Yawning Bread

Singapore cannot and should not be trying to decide whether OWC is deviant or not, which a refusal to register would be tantamount to. Any group is free to promote teachings that go against religious orthodoxy. Thus, there is no basis whatsoever to refuse registration to the OWC on dogmatic grounds.

**** US Human Trafficking Report "Riddled With Inaccuracies" <http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/singaporelocalnews/view/1137664/1/.html>
Mustafa Shafawi, Channel NewsAsia

While Singapore acknowledged that much remains to be done in its fight against trafficking, it said it is disappointed that the US chose to blatantly dismiss the facts and suggest that the country is not doing its share.

The MFA spokesman said the US report also seems to assume that the domestic processes of all countries reviewed are the same as that of the United States.

**** Polarising The Presidential Contest <http://newasiarepublic.com/?p=30091>
Chan Jia Hui, New Asia Republic

Thus, the irony behind Lee’s unifying remark in support of Tony is that it could potentially lend impetus to the polarisation of Presidential contest between the PAP and opposition camp. The second irony is that Dr Tan Cheng Bock is in a better position to unify Singaporeans from both ends of the political divide, rather than Tony.

**** Dr Tony Tan – PAP Cabinet Minister Who Silently Supported The 1987 Detention Of The “Marxist” Conspirators <http://singstatistician.blogspot.com/2011/06/dr-tony-tan-pap-cabinet-minister-who.html>
Thoughts Of A Singapore Statistician

So far, there have been no reports or accounts of Dr Tony Tan expressing similar views. We can therefore only infer that Dr Tony Tan did not speak up against the detentions and gave his support. And unlike Dr Tan Cheng Bock who did not have all of the facts, he did so with full knowledge as he was a member of Cabinet.

Somewhat coincidentally, Dr Tony Tan was chairman of SPH until he resigned to run for president. When he was chairman of SPH, Dr Tony Tan did not try to reform SPH so that Singaporeans get fair, objective news. Instead he allowed the propaganda practices prevalent in 1987 to continue. So much so that when surveyed recently, about 50% of Singaporeans thought that the Singapore media was biased.
