**** Window Commander 1.0 <http://www.macworld.com/article/160506/2011/06/windowcommander.html#lsrc.rss_main>
Brendan Wilhide, Macworld

While Window Commander replicates much of the functionality of OS X’s command-tab keyboard combination, it does so with a distinct visual style which enhances its usefulness.

**** Apple No. 1 For Data Traffic <http://www.straitstimes.com/BreakingNews/Singapore/Story/STIStory_684140.html>
Jamie Ee Wen Wei, Straits Times

Apple is king in Singapore when it comes to data traffic to and from devices that are not computers. A new study has shown that the brand's devices such as the iPhone and iPad account for more than 80 per cent of data sent to and from non-computer devices.

The same study also ranked Singapore as the country with the highest percentage of readers accessing newspaper sites using tablet devices.

**** Teardown Of Apple's New Time Capsule Reveals Consumer, Not Server, Grade HDD <http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/11/06/25/teardown_of_apples_new_time_capsule_reveals_consumer_not_server_grade_hdd.html>
Josh Ong, AppleInsider

According to one teardown of Apple's Time Capsule released earlier this week, the hard disk drive inside the wireless base station is a consumer version, not a server-grade disk as advertised by Apple.

**** The Theology Of iCloud <http://www.macworld.com/article/160687/2011/06/ihnatko_icloud_god.html#lsrc.rss_main>
Andy Ihnatko, Macworld

What I find most remarkable about iCloud is that (unless there’s a lot more that Apple hasn’t shown us yet) it’s not a destination: it’s a highway system. Yes, technically my iCloud contains loads of information and files, but that fact chiefly articulates itself when I pick up my iPad, launch Pages, and resume work on an article right from the point I left it on my MacBook earlier in the day.

**** Direct Download As A Bargaining Chip <http://www.manton.org/2011/06/direct_download.html>
Marton Reece

There may be some advantages to going App Store-only — less initial setup for checkout and licensing, no confusion about which version to buy, or where to upgrade — but indie Mac developers should be doing everything they can to control their own destiny. Having your own store is just good business sense.

Clancy Sigal, The Guardian

Ernest Hemingway, who died by his own hand 50 years ago, has long since ceased to be a fashionable writer. We do him wrong.

**** Take Courage – Don’t Let Gilbert Stand Alone <http://andrewlohhp.wordpress.com/2011/06/25/take-courage-dont-let-gilbert-stand-alone/>
Andrew Loh

That, at the end of the day, is what Gilbert is trying to do. To tell each and every Singaporean that he or she has the right to speak up.

And that there is no need to be afraid to do so.

**** Tony Tan A Unifying Figure? Trying To Fool Singaporeans Again? <http://rogerpoh.wordpress.com/2011/06/26/tony-tan-a-unifying-figure-trying-to-fool-singaporeans-again/>
Spotlight On Singapore

Far from being a unifying figure, a former PAP man will invite further derision. A vote for any former PAP man is a vote for the PAP. It is as simple as that.

**** Dr Tony Tan - Participant In Defamation Lawsuits Which Bankrupted Jeyaretnam And Tang Liang Hong <http://singstatistician.blogspot.com/2011/06/dr-tony-tan-participant-in-defamation.html>
Thoughts Of A Singapore Statistician

Dr Tony Tan is therefore not sorry or remorseful for his actions in any way. He undertook it with full knowledge of the facts and believes to this day that he acted correctly. His answer is also a chilling threat to Dr Tan Cheng Bock and Mr Tan Kin Lian that he would not hesitate to initiate defamation proceedings. Dr Tony Tan also puts on notice bloggers like me and everyone in cyberspace to be careful about what we write or we too could be sued. Given his past association with the PAP, his relationship with DPM Teo Chee Hean and that he is a member of the family which owns OCBC, we have to take the threat very seriously.

**** Animal Life And Nature In Singapore <http://psychedelic-nature.blogspot.com/2011/06/animal-life-and-nature-in-singapore.html>
Mei Lin, Psychedelic Nature

Have you read this book before? It is a local publication by a team of NUS professors in the 1970s - a review of Singapore's flora and fauna life. I first encountered this book while I was doing a review paper for the giant clams. After which, I became fascinated by the amount of information this book has on early Singapore.

The Domains

Some think Singapore is too clean, too sterile, too nice.

But I’m going to miss it.

**** The Rich And Powerless Of Sentosa Cove <http://www.emmanueldaniel.com/?p=369>
Emmanuel Daniel

The irony is that there are gaping holes even in a super-efficient society like Singapore, an endless pit into which you fall and fall and fall and scream and scream and scream – until you come to terms with the fact that there is nothing in the system you can hold on to or get help from. It can be truly frightening. The politician will not help you. The public servant will not help you. The local member of parliament thinks the administrator knows what he is doing. The judge thinks the law does not allow him to help you. Everybody is in charge of something, but nobody is responsible for you.

If you are reading this blog from a gated community in Florida or Spain or the Palm Jumeira in Dubai, or even next door in Malaysia, you would find this entire episode bizarre. Property owners without power? Unheard of. A super-efficient state where the wealthy are not protected? The fact that the Sentosa Cove is a relatively new development does not explain it, because everywhere else in the world, residents get together almost as soon as they move into their estates to protect their self-interests.

**** The Danger Of Anger Turning Into Hate <http://andrewlohhp.wordpress.com/2011/06/26/the-danger-of-anger-turning-into-hate/>
Andrew Loh

We are not powerless. Instead of turning our anger on the foreigners themselves, we should engage – and even confront – our MPs and ministers and let them know that something needs to be done about the government’s immigration policy – and that this needs to be done sooner rather than later.

If not, I fear that the anger among Singaporeans will soon boil over into deep-seated resentment which will surely then lead to something more serious.

**** Singapore Denies RSAF Aircraft Violated Malaysian Airspace <http://www.bernama.com/bernama/v5/newsindex.php?id=596900>

Singapore's investigations have not found any incident of Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) aircraft violating international air traffic rules or entering into Malaysian airspace without permission, the Singapore High Commission here said in a statement Sunday night.

The statement said that in the majority of the alleged violations, no aircraft were flying and where flights did exist, a number of them were non-Singaporean commercial aircraft flying over Malaysia according to international air traffic rules and regulations.
